Welcome!

The HIV/AIDS Self-Care Symptom Management Guidelines were developed by a group of faculty and researchers in the field of HIV/AIDS nursing care, at the School of Nursing, University of California, San Francisco. The Web-based Interactive Sign and Symptom Checklist for HIV/AIDS and the self-care symptom management strategies are derived from The Revised Sign and Symptom Check-List for HIV (SSC-HIVrev)developed by William L. Holzemer PhD, RN and Colleagues from the International HIV Nursing Research Network(2001, 2007).

The following web pages include many common symptoms that people living with HIV/AIDS may encounter. There are many care strategies that can be used to alleviate those symptoms and are listed in the Symptom Management Guidelines. If you know other helpful strategies are not included in these guidelines, please e-mail us and your comments are welcomed.

This program will provide you with a trended report of your symptoms by date and by symptom as you use the site over the next few weeks. You may print the report to take with you to your provider or you can e-mail it to your health care provider. The report is identified only by a code number that is known only to you, your provider, and the research nurse for this study.

You may e-mail the research nurse or call if you have any need to contact the nurse. You can always enter the chat room to talk with others in the study. Times for group chats will be set up soon.

Thank you.
