| Caring for your HIV-related problem: Unplanned Weight Loss | ||||||||||||||||||||
| PROBLEM: Loss of 10% or more of your usual body weight, when you did not intend to lose weight. Weight loss of any amount can be important, and should be treated as soon as possible. Unplanned weight loss may be due to HIV infection, HIV medications, depression, fatigue, an infection, or other health problems. If you are experiencing nausea/vomiting or diarrhea, refer to the self-care strategies in those categories. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| TREATMENT: There are many ways to treat this problem. The first step is to contact your physician or nurse. By working together, a treatment plan can be developed for you. This plan may include prescription or non-prescription medications, or other treatments. | ||||||||||||||||||||
